Roku Launches Roku 2 HD,XS and XD Media Streaming Devices

Today Roku has officially launched its new line of Roku 2 media streaming devices which are now available in three flavours, the HD, XS and XD. The Roku 2 HD player supports up to 720p HD video while the Roku 2 XD player supports up to 1080p HD video.

With the new Roku 2 also comes enhancements to the Netflix experience, which now provides up to 1080p HD video quality on the XD and XS models and includes support for English subtitles and Dolby Digital Plus.

All three Roku 2 models feature built-in wireless and Bluetooth connectivity and MicroSD slot to support additional game storage. The XS model also bring with it a full free version of Rovio’s Angry Birds game on to TV for the first time. Together with a Roku Game Remote with motion control which has been optimised for Angry Birds gaming. The Roku 2 XS also includes an Ethernet port and USB port for playing music and videos.

The Roku 2 HD is priced at $60 : XD at $80 and the XS at $100.

Chevron Windows Phone 7 Unlock Service To Cost $9

Back in June we reported that the guys behind the Chevron WP7 unlock tool would be charging a fee to unlock your Windows Phone 7 device, and now it looks like it will cost about $9 to have your WP7 device unlocked.

The Chevron WP7 team first started out by releasing the tool for free, and then decided to work with Microsoft to release an official unlocking tool, so no doubt they will be paying Microsoft a fee for each device they unlock.

There is till no information on when the Chevron WP7 unlock tool will be available, as soon as we get some more information we will let you guys know.

Samsung Galaxy S II Hits The US In August

Samsung has had huge success with the new Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone in Europe and other countries, Samsung has already sold more than 3 million S II handsets, unfortunately for our friends over in the US, Samsung still hasn’t released the Galaxy in the US as yet.

Now it looks like we may have a firm launch date for the US Samsung Galaxy S II, and according to the president of Samsung mobile, Shin Jong-Kyun, the Galaxy S II will finally land in the US in August, although he didn’t give an exact date.

The Samsung Galaxy S II features a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus display, the display has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixel, and it also comes with a dual core 1.2GHz processor, 16GB of built in storage and a microSD card slot.

Other specifications on the Samsung Galaxy S II include an 8 megapixel camera with an LED flash and auto-focus which can record Full High Definition video in 1080p, there is also a 2 megapixel camera up front for video chat, plus WiFi, A-GPS a built in FM radio, DLNA and WiFi direct.

Awesome BlueDrone RC Car is Controlled by Android Smartphone

I am a big fan of remote controlled toys. My tastes lean more towards those big nitro powered RC cars that can go 80mph than small battery powered cars though. However, when the RC car looks like the Nissan GTR and uses an Android phone for controls I am interested. This car is on KickStarter and is called the BlueDrone.

The car is a small 1:20 scale Nissan GTR that measures in at 8″ x 3.2″ x 2.75″ and it weighs 0.60 pounds. The small size of the car means it can get power from three AAA batteries. The smartphone app for Android devices uses Bluetooth connectivity to connect to the BlueDrone car.

The driver can use either onscreen controls or tilt to steer the RC car. The Bluetooth range is 30-feet and it can pair with up to eight devices. The project is seeking $200,000 in funding to come to market. So far, it has under $3000 of that amount and only 25 days to go.

Angry Birds To Get Ice Age-Style Movie?

Prepare to mourn the golden years of Uwe Boll. Say what you will about the German scourge of video game IP, at least he wasn’t under the impression that cartoon birds shooting out of a catapult make for compelling storytelling, or an entire narrative universe for that matter.

“How I see our whole brand, our whole Angry Birds franchise – I definitely see the film potential as a long-term commitment,” according to Rovio VP of franchise development Ville Heijari. ”Not just the one-off flick that happened, but to really flesh out the world, build the characters, make it really engaging.” Believe it or not, that’s not even the most depressing quote. ”We really genuinely have a lot of storytelling opportunities there. It’s not all about birds slingshotting themselves! Ha! There’s a lot of stuff going around the characters,” he went on. PT Barnum-esque antics aside, a potential movie would see the light of day in 2014 the earliest and there’s also an animation series in the works.

ModernWarfare3.com Domain Owner Revealed By GoDaddy

You might have heard of the new twist in the Modern Warfare 3 vs Battlefield 3 saga currently unfolding. Namely, the fact that Activision either forgot or just plain didn’t care enough to register the modernwarfare3.com domain when it started developing the game and as a result, after sitting on it for two years, the domain name holder has been using to wage a PR campaign in support of Battlefield 3.

Following a complaint from Activision, however, the domain now plays host only to an error message and Go Daddy’s Domains By Proxy (DBP) service is no longer protecting the owner’s privacy, one Anthony Abraham, Florida resident. For what it’s worth, we thought the Monty Python skit was in excellent taste, mister Abraham. We hope you thoroughly enjoy your fifteen minutes.
