Apple Testing Out HD Displays For iPad HD?

We have been hearing rumors that Apple will launch its third generation iPad later this year, although from what we have heard it is expected to be sold along side the existing iPad 2 and is not designed to be a replacement for the iPad 2.
There have been a number of rumors that the iPad HD will feature a high resolution display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, and not according to recent reports Apple is currently testing out HD displays for the iPad HD from a number of manufacturers which include Samsung and LG.
Apple iPad 2
This latest rumor adds more information to the actual existence of the iPad HD, although it does contradict previous rumors that the iPad HD would launch in September or October.
If Apple are testing out these new displays for the iPad HD, and this testing is rumored to go on for the next couple of months, then it really wouldn’t leave Apple much time to get the new iPad HD into production and also launch it around September or October.

The Thermochromic Clock (Video)

Some of our readers will remember the Thermochromic Urinal that we featured on Geeky Gadgets a while back, now we have the Thermochromic clock which uses similar technology.
The Thermochromic clock was developed by Che-Wei Wang and Taylor Levy of CW&T, and this funky clock is controlled by an Arduino, have a look at the video of it in action below.
Thermochromic Clock
Thermochromic Clock is a 4-digit 7-segment timepiece. Each segment in the display is made with a length of nichrome wire and then covered by a thick layer of black thermochromic paint. Time is displayed by applying voltage to the nichrome wire. As the wire sustains an electric current, it heats up the surrounding thermochromic paint, causing it to become transparent.
You can find out more information on how the Thermochromic clock works over at Creative Applications.

Apple To Launch Budget iPhone For $350?

Apple To Launch Budget iPhone For $350?
As well as all the iPhone 5 rumors over the last few months, we have also heard a couple of rumors that Apple will launch a budget version of the iPhone in order to cash in on the budget smartphone market.
Now according to the BGR’s Jonathan Geller, Apple are getting ready to launch a budget pre-paid iPhone which is expected to retail for $350 and will not need to to sign up to a monthly contract with any of the mobile carriers.
iPhone 3GS
We are told the handset will retail for no more than $350 without contract. Ready for the really interesting part? It’s entirely possible that the low-cost iPhone will in fact be the iPhone 3GS.
Apple sells the iPhone 3GS in the US for $49 at the moment, but customers have to sign up to a new two year contract with AT&T, selling the iPhone 3GS as a budget smartphone would be a smart move for Apple.
