It looks like the patent originally belong to LG back in 2002, and then another company called Promitus Technologies in 2008, there are no details on how OSS got their hands on the patent.
Apple Sued Over OS X Fast Booting
The original owner/assignee of this 2002 granted patent is shown to be LG Electronics Inc. Note that the inventor of the reissued granted patent under RE40,092 is the same but assigned to Protimus Technologies LLC in 2008. It’s the very same patent that is being quoted in the court’s document.
It isn’t clear as yet whether LG still has anything to do with the actual patent in question, you can find out more information over at Patently Apple.

10 Year Old Hacker Finds iOS And Android Gaming Security Flaw

A 10 year old called CyFi has announced a flaw which she found in some Android and iOS games at this years DefCon hacker conference in las Vegas. CyFi discovered the bug whilst playing farming games, she was bored with the game taking so long and wanted to find a way to speed things up.
Simply by advancing the clock on her tablet or smartphone, she was able to find a way to speed up these farming games, for example when the clock was changed CyFi was able to produce crops within the game more quickly than she normally would have been able to.
iOS Android
Many games normally detect changes in the clock time, to stop this sort of thing within the games, but CyFi managed to find a way around this as the BBC points out.
While many games detect and block clock-based cheating, CyFi found ways round these security measures. Disconnecting a phone from wi-fi and only advancing a clock by a small amounts helped to open up the loophole as it forced the game into a state not tested by its original creators.
No doubt the developers of these games will be looking for a way to close the hole in the games which has been found to work on both Apple’s iOS devices and also Google’s Android devices.

Apple TV (2nd Gen) Running HTML 5 Based Game (video)

Apple’s 2nd generation TV device as yet won’t officially allow any applications to run on it. But one industrious hacker named appletvblack has been able to jailbreak the device and run a simple HTML 5 based card game.
Adding to the speculation that Apple’s TV device could one day eventually be able to play non jailbroken applications. Watch a brief video after the jump to see the hack in action.
Apple TV
The game used in the demonstration is hardly the most graphical or engaging, but it’s a great example of what is capable with Apple’s TV and HTML 5.  Apple has always said that their Apple TV device was merely a “hobby” and explains why the company hasn’t pushed it further.

Apple’s iTunes Replay Service Delayed By Movie Studios?

The other day we heard that Apple intends to launch a new movie streaming service, which will be callediTunes Replay, and it looks like the service may be suffering from some of the earlier problems that Apple had getting their iTunes Match music service off the ground.
Apple’s iTunes Match is scheduled to launch in September at the same time as Apple launches iOS 5, it took Apple quite some time to come to agreement with the record labels on the service and now it looks like the company is having similar problems with the movie studios.
iTunes Movies
Apple has yet to sign cloud agreements for feature films with at least four of the top six film studios, according to multiple film industry sources who spoke to CNET. Apple has indeed pursued such agreements, which CNET reported in May, but Apple’s negotiations could drag on for months before the company acquires cloud rights from all six film studios, the sources said. A launch is not imminent, the sources said.
So we can expect to see iTunes Replay launch in the near future, when really depends on how long it takes Apple to come to agreement with the movie studios, and we suspect it won’t launch at the same time as iOS 5 and iTunes Match.
